Lee Kum Kee is devoted to support the Sichuan earthquake relief works, and has responded positively in sponsoring charitable relief campaigns organised by the culinary arts sector. On June 14th 2008, Mr. and Mrs. Lee Man Tat, Group Chairman of Lee Kum Kee, and Mr. Eddy Lee Wai Man, Chairman of Lee Kum Kee, invited over 70 guests including business partners from Hong Kong and Shenzhen, the group's management and staff from China, Hong Kong and Macau to a Funding Raising Dinner for Sichuan Earthquake Victims hosted by Chef Martin Yan's Culinary Arts Centre in Shenzhen.
The night included several charity performances including excellent cooking demonstrations by Master Chefs Yan Man Tat and Wan Tat Kong. There was a recital of Sichuan tunes on the renowned Guzheng by Master Zou Lun-lun, as well as an incredible Sichuan Face Changing performance by Zhang Chun-yip, junior master of Chuan opera. All guests were able to savour specially designed thematic delicacies, with inspiring names such as ”„Turning the Grief into Power' and ”„Rebuilding our Homeland', offered by renowned Chinese culinary master Wan Tat Kong in Japan. By utilising ingredients and beverages originating from Sichuan, Master Wan signified his wish for the rapid recovery of the Sichuan economy. |
