Hong Kong - August 24, 2001
The Food Standards Agency (FSA) released a new statement on July 17, 2001 stating the associationˇ¦s formal recognition of Lee Kum Keeˇ¦s achievements
in complying with their local standards and proposed European Union (EU)
legislation on the limit of chloropropanols substances in food. The FSA also
accepted the steps taken by Lee Kum Kee over the years to have products tested
by qualified and internationally accredited laboratories. The Australia New
Zealand Food Authority (ANZFA) also confirmed that all Lee Kum Kee products meet or exceed food
standards set locally. Recently, the Ministry of Health in Malaysia also included Lee Kum Kee products in the list
of safe items on its Internet site. This indicates that Lee Kum Kee complies
with standards set by local authorities in every market and all Lee Kum Kee
products on the shelves are safe for consumption.
As a global leader in Chinese sauces and other sauce related products, Lee Kum Kee took immediate action and introduced new
quality control techniques since October 1999 following the first survey report
on food substances by the FSA. As a result of these initiatives, the company is successful in ensuring that none of
their products contained detectable levels of these substances.
Lee Kum Kee welcomes the recognition from the above international food authorities. "I am keen to ensure our loyal customers
that their loyalty has not, nor ever has been misplaced. Our prompt response
and ongoing efforts to fully comply with regulatory requirements are reflections of the important values we place on quality and trust." said Mr.
Eddy Lee, Chairman of Lee Kum Kee.
Working closely with internationally accredited laboratories in the UK, Canada, and elsewhere, Lee Kum Kee has an
intensive product assurance program in place and is always striving to bring
you the best products according to the best standards.
