Dragon Boat Festival (lunar 5 May) is the date in remembrance of the death of a great poet "Chiu Yuan" during the warring era of ancient China. Chiu Yuan is a patriot who made efforts on defending his own country "Chou" from the invasion of enemy country "Chun". He finally committed suicide by jumping into Mi Luo River after the country was deceived by Chun's plot. Some fishermen searched for his body. In order to prevent attacking of the body by fishes and prawns, they created loud noise by drum and threw rice dumpling to feed fishes. That's the origin of the Dragon Boat Festival and the eating of rice dumplings. In Japan, the traditional wooden dragon boat with beautiful dragon decoration at the front can only be found in Yokohama.
