June 1 to 2, 2002, Lee Kum Kee Dragon Boat Team was invited to participate in the Yokohama Dragon Boat Race 2002. The Race, organized by Yokohama Dragon Boat Race Organizing Committee, was supported by Yokohama Municipal Government and sponsored by Yokohama China-town Organization as well as Lee Kum Kee. Among the 96 teams, Lee Kum Kee was the only representative from overseas.

The event was held at Yamashita Park. Lee Kum Kee Dragon Boat Team first competed with 31 teams in Group B Race on June 1. After 4 races, the Team won the competition and was successfully enrolled into Group A Race on June 2. Competing with 23 teams in 3 harsh but exciting races on June 2, the Team finally achieved the Championship in 1 minute and 9 seconds.

To foster better education of the Chinese in overseas countries, Mr. Eddy Lee, Chairman of Lee Kum Kee cum Dragon Boat Team leader, donated the 1 million yen cash prize to two Chinese secondary schools in Yokohama.
"Looking forward to Stanley Dragon Boat Race on June 15 and Hong Kong International Dragon Boat Race 2002 on June 22, all the dragon boat paddlers will surely demonstrate their well-trained skill and team work spirit in the competitions. The Company aims at promoting Chinese culture of dragon boat race to people all over the world by participating in different races," said Lee.
